  The Purpose of the Mentor

Members of the Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter
Among the special youth programs offered through the Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter is the male mentoring implementation model that focuses on developing talented, capable young men into leaders of men who serve others through their leadership and commitment to community. The Alpha ESQuires program is the execution of this model and the group meets under the supervision and guidance of Alpha Brothers and other community leaders who serve as presenters, teachers, and mentors on lessons in leadership.

The male mentoring implementation model refines our national programs by specifying developmental areas that should be focused on, as programs are being planned and implemented. The areas identified take into consideration the socioeconomic and political changes that have occurred in the world since the inception of the fraternity’s programmatic focus during the 1920's-30's. The areas of development and their elements are:

The Mentor's 5-Step Process

To effectively help each participant reach the goals and objectives established, the mentor will seek to use these steps in their quest to the “better making of a men.”
  1. Spiritual Health – To foster spiritual development and an ongoing discipline, through practical application of the word of God.
  2. Emotional Well-being – To help the mentee discover his true God given identity and emotional development.
  3. Physical Development – To address issues of personal health and fitness.
  4. Financial Independence – To assist the young men in becoming responsible stewards as it relates to managing finances.
  5. Career/Education Growth – To offer career and educational strategies, exercises, counselling and resources to the mentees.

    Yes, I want to make a positive difference in a young man's life.
